May is a busy month. I have 2 weddings, language examining training, lots of marketing work and around 15000 words to write. All doable with a little planning.
Losing 1000 words overnight was not part of the plan. I'm convinced I saved the document before closing down my computer last night (am a bit fanatical about this) but they weren't there this morning. So where did they go??? Grrrr. Not a good start to the week.
Hope yours is going better!

Oh, I've done this. Nothing worse than that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you realise all that hard work's gone.
:-(
Argh, Lucy, how vile! Did you inadvertantly save it as something else? I did something similiar quite recently. Think I saved an earlier copy of a draft over the top of a newer one -idiot that I am. Soooo irritating.
How annoying:-(
After a spate of weird IT stuff last year I now give in to paranoia and not only have a remote backup (stuff safe if computer fries) which saves without me having to do anything, but also back up onto a memory stick whenever I leave the computer. Just need to write something worth protecting now.
Hope you find the missing words hidden somewhere. Good luck with the deadline.
TWO weddings! Do you have a closet full of 27 bridesmaids outfits by chance? I just saved my work to one of those mini drives because I suddenly became really paranoid that something would happen to it and I'm working to a comp deadline so I'd probably have a fit. Instead I'm having a fit for you complete with a kicking and screaming tantrum on the floor. Remember the typewriter? Typewriters DON'T gobble words ;) I am fascinated by your language training and your marketing, I can't wait to hear all about May.
Who knows what I did to my ms - my brain has overheated and gone into meltdown (as I seem to remember it did in December too). But at least it wasn't the whole damn thing. That really would have been the pits!
Lacey - I actually have 4 weddings before the middle of July (no funerals, touch wood, and only 1 bridesmaid dress). Am sure there'll be much hairpulling about Other Work as my deadline approaches.
