Naturally, now that I'm actually getting somewhere with Book 2, and my characters are beginning to toe the line, I have the best idea ever for a new story. A catchy opening scene, a tormented hero, a lovely healing heroine and a remote desert island. Oh, it's soooo tempting.
So do I give in and open another word doc? No. Partly because I know what I'm like (I have a dozen started stories in a folder called 'Ideas') but mainly because my deadline of June 1 is approaching with alarming speed. Instead I've bought a little notebook and am jotting my new ideas in there. In the meantime Phoebe and Alex are rolling around in the mud in Scotland.
(Update: Oh, and this morning a breakfast show on national Spanish radio played a joke (in a fairly loose sense of the word) on the lovely Hugh Jackman, who is as good a sport as he is gorgeous. If you want to listen, and it's in a mixture of English and Spanish, click on the link that begins 'Descargar...')

Whey hey - good old Scotland.
The notebook's a great idea - you can jot down notes for your new story at times when it's not possible to start up the computer to work on book 2.
Yes, I do that too. I have different notebooks all over the place. Go Scotland. Go Susan Boyle!!
Rolling around in the mud sounds pleasant. :-) I know what you mean about new story ideas - I do a quickie synopsis when I get those and then file away for future reference. In fact, I always get good ideas for a new story when I'm finding the current one hard going. I wonder why that is??
This always happens to me too! I could be mean and say 'haha... you're published now so you've lost the luxury of playing with a new idea.' But who am I kidding? I'd rather be published than free to flit from idea to idea any day!!
Give that trusy notebook a workout... and at least you know you won't be floudering for an idea for Book 3!!
All these comments and no one has mentioned Hugh Jackman. Still trying to hook up with the link. I looooovvvveee Hugh, in a patriotic sense of course...being a fellow Aussie and all. And yes, I have that notebook full of great story ideas...now back to Hugh.
The new idea sounds intriguing already Lucy.
I'm looking forward to reading about Phoebe and Alex in Scotland. We have a huge patch of mud at the back of the house so I got to thinking who would induce me to roll in it ;-)
Which reminds me -There are some pictures around blogland of Hugh in a towel - Julie Cohen's blog has some...
Oh, yes, Hugh in a Towel...yum. Am not sure about rolling around in the mud. It's not exactly glamorous and aspirational, is it? Although it would naturally lead to a steamy shower scene.
