Valentine's Day

Love's Philosophy
by Shelley

The fountains mingle with the river
And the rivers with the ocean
The winds of heaven mix for ever
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single,
All things by a law divine
In one another's being mingle
Why not I with thine?

See the mountains kiss high heaven
And the waves clasp one another
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdain'd its brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea
What are all these kisses worth
If thou kiss not me?

Ahhhhhh. Talking of smooching, there's an article in today's Times on what's happened to the cinema kiss over the last century. The classic screen kiss, it seems, is dead. Oh no! What do you think? Has the kiss "become the bland punctuation mark of bland romcoms"? And when did you last see a really great kiss in a film?

Right, having failed dismally to get any words added to my wip so far this weekend, I'm off to a flamenco fashion show. Happy Valentine's Day!

Ah Shelley. Love a bit of Shelley in the morning (yep, 10am here). Interesting point re the kiss. You know what? There may be something in that. Films these days go straight to the sex and bypass the kiss entirely. Which is sad.

I can't remember the last time I saw a really great kiss in film. It makes the romantic in me kind of sad really.

BRING THE KISS BACK!

Yes I will spend the evening making protest boards...

I hope you had a blast at the fashion show!
