I'd like to be able to say I've spent the past five or so days tucked away writing like a demon, but no. Instead, I've been playing hookey and having a lovely time visiting family in the UK. Total words written since Wednesday? Umm...zero. However, I did have a couple of lightbulb moments about the current wip and I did meet a genuine utterly-charming-and-not-at-all-ruthless Greek tycoon.
But unfortunately I find writing is like exercise: the longer the break, the harder it is to get back into the habit. This requires self-discipline. Will power. Determination. Just sitting down, turning off the phone and getting on with it. Hmmmm. Tomorrow. I shall start again tomorrow.

Everybody needs a break - and you'll soon get the writing momentum going.
Welcome back.
:-)
Suzanne's right, a break is great. And if you had some lightbulb moments, all the better.
BTW, was the Greek tycoon hot? ;-)
When does a break stop being a break and start becoming a procrastination, I wonder?!
Jackie, of course the Greek shipping tycoon was hot. It's the law ;)
A break becomes procrastination when you get back home and are still acting like you're holiday (says she who came back from Geneva this morning and promptly slept the rest of the day away! :-)
But I think 'thinking about' your stories is just as valid as writing them down and I often get brainwaves when I'm not trying to be productive.
So you have been working hard, honest!
I am just coming back after a break myself so I know exactly what you mean. This is my first full day writing since I sent in my manuscript and here I am, surfing the net, checking my email, thinking about building a blog, thinking about how great my WIP will be once I get it written, dreaming about that Greek Tycoon...mmmm.... Suzanne is right, the momentum will soon start flowing, you just have to sit at the computer...another mmmm...
Ahhh procrastination... I know it so well
