Took me ages to work out what was going on with my heroine but once I did, I was away.Jackie Ashendenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15564893115525415518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4070938280573330535.post-51302499493012712232009-03-26T15:20:00.001+01:002009-03-26T15:20:00.001+01:00Or maybe it's me who doesn't know what she's in fo...Or maybe it's me who doesn't know what she's in for ;)Lucy Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13262133670127664033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4070938280573330535.post-83820066646432389012009-03-26T15:20:00.000+01:002009-03-26T15:20:00.000+01:00Agh, am with you on the writing into a hole, Rach!...Agh, am with you on the writing into a hole, Rach!!

Funnily enough, Lorraine, just after I posted this this morning I decided I'd sit down and interview my characters. I did it with my last ms and it was really helpful. Ha, they don't know what they're in for!Lucy Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13262133670127664033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4070938280573330535.post-39124558948255808002009-03-26T15:08:00.000+01:002009-03-26T15:08:00.000+01:00I have a weird suggestion for you - try interviewi...I have a weird suggestion for you - try interviewing your characters on paper! I did it once and the answers they came back with were really illuminating and I started to get an idea of their individual voices.

I'm sure the ms is better than you think anyway and it is just your first draft...Lorrainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10619384647331952483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4070938280573330535.post-32162065776193868452009-03-26T11:30:00.000+01:002009-03-26T11:30:00.000+01:00Hey LucyI hear you on not being into your characte...Hey Lucy

I hear you on not being into your characters. I felt a little like that with one of the proposals I sent to M&B, which is why I haven't started it yet. Liked the concept but wasn't in love with the hero or that enamored by the heroine.

In my current mss, I've written myself into a hole. The conflict is so huge, so huge that it may be too depressing for editors! Whoops!!! This one isn't aimed at MH mind you.Rachael Johnshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12162767571439344710noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4070938280573330535.post-75824923063006472872009-03-26T10:35:00.000+01:002009-03-26T10:35:00.000+01:00Thanks for the advice, Michelle. WHy is the relationship going to become more valuable to the both of them?
Also if you are not into your characters. Figure out why they are keeping things from you. What secrets and desires are they hiding? Why are they protecting that inner core?Michelle Styleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03400990189443593076noreply@blogger.com
